GEOTECHNICAL
Site Investigation
Boring
Boreholes are drilled using rotary mechanical boring machines that are able operate in all ground conditions. The machinery is operated to ensure the highest possible recovery of bored volume
Drilling Equipment
One mobile drill (B57), mounted on a Bedford 4-wheel truck (USA)
One Zalzgitter SG 750 machine (Germany)
Two Bauer UBW 08 S Universal multi-purpose drilling machines (Germany) with Domin vibro rotary drilling heads (France)
Five Atlas D750 drilling machines (Sweden)
Sampling
Single Core - Double Core barrel – Mazier Sampler with plastic lines – Densen Sampler
Field Testing
All testing in accordance with ASTM or BS standards.
Field Testing Equipment:
Standard penetration test with automatic release hammers (USA)
Field vane equipment (Norway)
One Menard pressure meter apparatus (France)
One 20-ton CPT machine, truck mounted (Netherlands)
One seismic cone (Netherlands)
One piezocone (Netherlands)
One flat dilatometer test (Italy)
Laboratory Testing
Soil samples extracted from boreholes in the field are sent to our laboratory in central Cairo to obtain soil classification and physical and mechanical properties. Our laboratory is fully equipped and expertly manned to perform soil and rock testing to the highest international standards.
Index Tests: water content determination, Atterberg limits, grain size distribution, specific gravity, and bulk density and maximum/minimum density Field Vane Tests
Strength Tests: unconfined compression test, unconsolidated-undrained triaxial compression test, consolidation-undrained triaxial compression test, consolidation drained triaxial test, point load test, direct shear test, laboratory vane test, and slake durability test
Compressibility Tests: one-dimensional consolidation test and collapse potentials test Compaction Tests
Swelling Tests: one dimension swell test
Chemical Tests: testing of soil and groundwater samples for PH-sulfate-chloride-
carbonate contents-total dissolved salts
